DO Different for 1 DAY

WHAT: SIT4Change is an inter/national campaign that raises awareness about transformative social change: a “new” approach that recognizes the importance of personal development to achieve social transformation.

Participants take on a SIT4Change Challenge: On November 12, 2011, we’re calling for people to demonstrate the transformative power of practice at any of over 200 Occupy Wall Street events. We know many occupy sites hold space for spiritual practices daily. What we are proposing is a call to action for a critical mass of spiritual, faith and transformation-based communities, groups and organizations to be invited to Occupy spaces everywhere.

Do 108 minutes (1 hour and 48minutes) of personal practices such as meditation, yoga, centering prayer, contemplative arts, devotional dance etc. These practices support individuals in being more effective, more compassionate and more sustainable as we advance progressive change.

WHEN: Saturday, November 12, 2011.

WHO: Hundreds of organizations, churches and communities of practice  like yours, and thousands of individuals like you that believe in a just society  that celebrates and supports personal growth and sustainability as a direct means to achieving social transformation. You can show up and practice as an individual or self-organized with circles of family, friends and community.

WHERE: With options for both virtual and place-based participation, you can take the S4C Challenge wherever you are!   Start your own S4C challenge, or catch the wave by joining with other collective Occupy Within efforts taking place globally- and locally at an Occupy site near you. Explore just a little and discover various Occupy efforts to fuel your S4C challenge (both online and locale based).

WHY: Just as the “Occupy” movement is capturing our imagination, SIT4Change connects our current social movements to the legacy and transformative power of nonviolent action grounded by inner awareness.
