Dear SIT4Change Participants and Supporters.

We would like to express many thanks for all those who participated in SIT4Change 2011. Our goal was to to demonstrate the connection between spirit, faith, transformation and achieving social justice goals. We have noted 13 sites nationally/ internationally of SIT4Change participation. We also know there were more that were not reported.

Sydney, Australia

San Francisco, CA

Raleigh, NC

Phoenix, AZ

Orlando, FL

New York City (2 locations)

Miami, FL

Detroit, MI

Chicago, IL

Boston, MA

Oakland, CA

Washington DC

Toronto, Canada

Denver, CO

We would like to extend our gratitude for everyone’s heartfelt participation. This was a success for us all!

One note is that SIT4Change was intended to be a self organized event in which people decided their own time and location. But, when we posted the information to MeetUp, in particular, we were limited to selecting a fixed time: 9am, rather than the range of 9a-9p which we were suggesting. This may have caused confusion for some and for that we apologize. We did provide information on our main website with instructions for self-organizing, but we realize some people did not make it there. This is the first time S4C was done in this context and we are learning, so thank you for the feedback!

The good news is that many folks are expressing that they would like to see a continuation of gatherings. We will poll people within the next week for frequency of times to meet and also look to connect folks to events already happening at local Occupy sites.

If you would like to stay informed about the next steps, please add your contact information on our website at: http://www.sit4change.org

And if you haven’t already seen our powerful 2-minute video, see it now: http://www.sit4change.org (or search for “sit4change” on YouTube)

and endorse SIT4Change to show your commitment to this goal: http://www.sit4change.org/endorse/

Thank you again for making this a success both on November 12th and in the future.

With our deepest regards,
SIT4Change

The organizers of SIT4Change stand in solidarity with the #Occupy movement sweeping the country and world. On November 12, 2011, we’re calling for people to demonstrate the transformative power of practice at any of over 200 Occupy Wall Street events.

Personal practices such as meditation, yoga, centering prayer, contemplative arts, and many others support individuals in being more effective, more compassionate and more sustainable as we advance progressive change.

Gandhi and King’s core followers sustained themselves through the challenges of nonviolent direct action with personal practice to help them remain centered. Arab Spring Muslims continued to pray five times per day in accordance with their tradition even in the midst of rising up against dictatorial rule.

OWS events are known to be distributed throughout the US and Canada with additional ones in Europe, Brazil, Mexico, Bolivia and more.
